UNDP Human Development Report

Mar 08, 2011 No Comments
The Human Development Report is an independent publication commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). From the beginning, the Report has been a pioneer of methodological innovation and development thinking. Often provocative, the Report was launched in 1990 with the goal of putting people at the center of development, going beyond income to assess people’s long-term well-being. The Reports’ messages — and the tools to implement them — have been embraced by people around the world, as shown by the publication of autonomous National Human Development Reports by more than 140 countries over the past two decades. The Human Development Report is translated into more than a dozen languages and launched in more than 100 countries annually.
The Human Development Report website features all the texts and statistics from the 2010 Human Development Report and 2010 Human Development Index, as well as other indicators and data tools, in English, French, and Spanish. The website also includes country profiles with the latest development data for all 192 United Nations member states. New features allow you to build your own development index, build your own data  tables or explore national development data visually on StatPlanet. Available for free downloading are previous global, regional, national and sub-national Human Development Reports going back to 1990.
The media centre features press materials for the most recent reports, including videos, press releases, FAQs, graphics, and more. The website also spotlights Human Development Report forums and other public events, and provides an open public archive of research papers commissioned for past reports.
